The UT Extension in Dekalb Co will present a new course to help with canning foods safely. "Canning College: Preserving Foods Safely" is a 7 hour course taught by Extension Agent April Martin. Topics include: Preserving Jams & Jellies, Pickling, Using a Waterbath Canner and Using a Pressure Canner. The class will be held at the Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Smithville. There is a $35 registration fee to cover the cost of supplies and produce. for more information call the UT Extension office at 597-4945. Registration is due by June 26th.

The event is a chance for older adults in the community to come and show off their skills! A free picnic potluck lunch will follow and raffle prizes will be available to attendees.
